The Phenomenon known as Linsanity (NBA.com/Philippines Exclusive)
Below is an except of my article from NBA.com/Philippines.
Movie Review: Linsanity: The Jeremy Lin Story
Category: Movies
Genre: Documentary
Originally conceptualized to be six-to-eight minute webisodes chronicling Jeremy Lin’s time at Harvard University though his early stints as a National Basketball Association (NBA) and NBA Developmental League (NBA D-League) player, filmmaker Evan Jackson Leong documentary gained national and international interest following Lin’s breakout performances in February of 2012. The project1 was then turned into an 88-minute film entitled, “Linsanity: The Jeremy Lin Story.”

Linsanity director Evan Jackson Leong lets moviegoers—familiar and unfamiliar with the game of basketball—in on an experience of a lifetime as his lens captures the humility of Lin’s beginnings till his seemingly overnight ascension from irrelevance to the phenomenon that the world has come to know as Linsanity.
Highlighted with themes of faith, perseverance, and opportunity; Linsanity: The Jeremy Lin Story also features a number of notable interviews with a number of influential people in Lin’s life such as former Knicks backcourt mate Landry Fields; ex-Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni; former D-League Reno Bighorns head coach Eric Musselman; and retired Houston Rockets center and global icon Yao Ming.
Thoughts on Linsanity
Although Linsanity: The Jeremy Lin Story (2013) is essentially a basketball documentary, it’s inspirational reach should not be solely limited to sports but extend to other facets of our lives such as academics, work, and even personal concerns. The movie—at least for me—serves as a reminder that when faced with seemingly overwhelming life challenges; one is never helpless and can still empowered themselves to make a choice.
An official entry to the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
